Former UFC Heavyweight Contender and American Top Team MMA fighter Jeff “The Snowman” Monson will step into the cage on Saturday, August 21st for what’s being billed as one of the most exciting MMA fight cards in South Florida in some time. The event called: “Fight Time 1” is being promoted by Howard Davis Jr.’s Fight Time Promotions and Jeff Gibson’s Elite Promotions. The two companies recently joined forces to make MMA a permanent sport in the South Florida market.Monson was eager to be on the show when he found out that Davis, who also serves as Boxing Director of American Top Team, was putting on a MMA show in South Florida. Monson is coming off a victory in Australia over Brazilian Ubiratan "Birao” Marinho Lima and will headline the 12 bout card. Davis was recently featured as the boxing coach on Chuck Liddell’s team on the latest installment of Spike TV’s The Ultimate Fighter. Davis says that he’s looking forward to the exciting card next month, which will be shown on Comcast Cable as well as streamlined via the internet. “Fight Time 1” includes a 12-bout card, which will feature some of the latest talent from gyms throughout South Florida. The future studs of mixed martial artswill duke it out inside the cage at the international nightclub and restaurant La Covacha, 10730 NW 25st., at Mixed Fighting Alliance’s New Generation II at 7:30 p.m. June 25.

The card will be filled of non-stop pound-for-pound hard hitting mixed martial arts action featuring ten stellar bouts. Home town favorite Alexis Vila(7-0) will put his undefeated streak against Wisconsin’s best, Omar Chovdhury (13-6) in the show’s main-event.

An Olympic bronze medalwinner in 1996 for the Cuban national wrestling team, Vila , who trains with American Top Team, has annihilated all of his foes. But, scoring another win won’t come easy as Chovdhury stands in the way. With a brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Chovdhury hopes on taking his opponent to the ground will hopes to sink in a submission.

With recent reports that World Extreme Cage fightingorganization could be adding the flyweight division, the match up between these two phenomenal talents could prove to be a decision maker as to the future of one of the sport’s fastest and entertaining weight category.

Also on the line-up and will serve as the co-main event, Homestead fighter Chino Duran (3-4) will drive north in an attempt to even his fight record, but wrestler and Judo expert Horacio Rodriguez (3-1) counts on using his skills in hopes of climbing the MMA ladder.

In a heavyweight attraction, Puerto RicanRocko “Rush” Rivera and Oscar Delgado will square off in hopes of searching for their first victory in the sport.

Backyard brawler Josbel Rodriguez will transition into the professional world against another fighter making his pro debut, Jose Caceras. Both will match wrestling skills as the contenders practiced the sport in the past. Caceras has the edge as he wrestled in college and competed in Missouri 's wrestling nationals.
