‘D.C.’ Excludes Jones From P4P List, ‘Bones’ Fires Back

The never-ending beef between former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight champions Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier is still going strong. The latest round in this ongoing battle all began after “D.C.” stated that “Bones” has no right to be in the pound-for-pound conversation due to his multiple failed drug tests.

“One of the most talented guys you’ll ever meet but again for me bad [drug] tests eliminate you from the conversation,” Cormier told MMA Fighting. “I just cannot understand how that is so hard to comprehend in a sport where we’re fighting each other.

“In baseball, bad tests eliminate you from being considered and being in the Hall of Fame and you’re hitting a ball. You’re hitting an object that has no feeling. In fighting, you’re punching people, human beings, and you have bad tests that eliminates you. It’s just too dangerous.”

Jones recently took exception to the media and fans alike dubbing Khabib Nurmagomedov the greatest of all time after he defeated Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 (see it) to improve to 29-0. For “Bones” — who lost his P4P ranking to “The Eagle” — it’s laughable to believe Khabib is above him when he only has 3 world titles with the promotion compared to his 14.

Still, Cormier — who just so happens to be close with Nurmagomedov — doesn’t believe “Bones” has a place in the mix.

“So I think when you start to think about the greatest of all time for all the things and all the great victories, you can’t look at those, me personally being a guy that those fights did really long term damage to my career, it’s hard for me to say [Jon Jones] is the greatest of all time when every time we fought, there was some sort of issue. That for me, it just kind of changes the conversation.”

Of course, Jones’ wins over Cormier at UFC 214 was overturned to a no contest (NC) as a result of a failed drug test. Not one to sit idle, “Bones” fired back at “D.C.” on social media for his latest comments toward him.

“DC you lost your last fight and then quit the sport,” he wrote on Twitter. “Talk about being eliminated from the conversation. People will remember I was accused of steroids, they will also remember that I was proven innocent and able to continue with my career,” he added.
