NAC announces referee, judges for Dustin Poirier vs. Conor McGregor 3

Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier won’t be the only two people who shared the cage for all three of their trilogy fights.

During Wednesday’s monthly meeting, the Nevada Athletic Commission passed a motion to approve Herb Dean as the third man inside the cage to officiate the trilogy fight between McGregor (22-5 MMA, 10-3 UFC) and Poirier (27-6 MMA, 20-6 UFC).

Additionally, the NAC selected Sal D’Amato, Derek Cleary and Junichiro Kumijo as the three cageside judges for the five-round lightweight fight.

UFC 264 takes place Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card streams on ESPN+ pay-per-view after prelims on ESPN/ESPN+.

Dean will pocket $1,900 for the fight, while the judges will take home $1,600 each.

Referees Marc Goddard and Jason Herzog will join Dean in officiating the rest of the UFC 264 event.

Dean also officiated the first and second fights between McGregor and Poirier. At UFC 178, Dean called a stop the first fight when McGregor dropped Poirier with punches in Round 1. At UFC 257 in January, Dean also stepped in – only this time it was Poirier who landed fight-ending blows to McGregor in Round 2.
